ANSI/AGMA ISO 17485-A08 Tolerance Calculator
Last year AGMA adopted ISO 17485, Bevel Gears – ISO System of Accuracy, as an American National Standard to complement the library of standards available to gear manufacturers and users of power transmission products.
Standard ANSI/AGMA ISO 17485-A08 provides tolerances for single pitch, total cumulative pitch, runout, and tooth mesh component single flank composite. The Tolerance Calculator will find these tolerance values for your gears based on their geometry and the accuracy grade.
The values of the tolerances in the standard are determined through equations based on tolerance diameter, mean normal module (diametral pitch), and accuracy grade. Since mean normal module is not commonly available, the calculator allows alternate geometry as input.
This MS Windows based program allows you to simply input the basic data for the specific gear geometry, run the program, and the software displays the values of all the tolerances. “Help” screens are available for guidance.
To put this program on your computer (you must have administrator privileges):
- Download the ANSI/AGMA ISO 17485-A08 Tolerance Calculator ZIP file.
- Extract all three files to a common (temporary) directory.
- Run the setup.exe install program and follow the instructions. (You will need to use the password jmr to install the program).
- You can remove the setup files (temporary directory) if you wish, and run the program from your Windows menu.
